6 Simple Ways to Celebrate Thanksgiving!
It is the time of year to pause and give thanks for the many blessings we have received during the year. As a parent or caregiver, this may seem hard to do with all of the planning and preparing you may have to do. Here are some activities to do as a group or for the kids to do alone to make the most of this time.
1.
Talk about the history of Thanksgiving
There are many myths surrounding the first Thanksgiving that have worked their way into the traditional celebration as it is viewed today. Share the stories of the first Thanksgiving to bring an understanding of the cultures, activities and the friendships.
2.
Read the MVP Kids’ Celebrate! Thanksgiving eBook
Join our MVP Kids as they role play significant characters and events from the historic first Thanksgiving. Then bridge history into a lesson on thankfulness as our MVP Kids express gratitude for friends, food, family, and more as they enjoy the typical sights and experiences of a traditional American Thanksgiving celebration.
3.
Make dinner fun!
Give your kids something to do and some jokes to tell at the kids' table with our Thanksgiving MVP Kids activity sheet!
4.
Use a craft to share what you’re thankful for
Print out our turkey worksheet and trace your child’s hand around the body of the turkey and have him dictate five things he is thankful for that you can write into the finger spaces. Your child can then color and present his thankful turkey!
5.
Build the mayflower
Create the Mayflower using popsicle sticks and marshmallows. Our MVP Kids - Aanya, Olivia and Liam created the same ship in our board book, Celebrate! Thanksgiving.
6.
Take advantage of our free MVP Kids Coloring Pages
These coloring pages of our 16 MVP Kids leave lots of room for the imagination. Draw them in holiday scenes, outer space, a garden, or even in your bedroom.
